&
 Dynamic

Month!

Greetings Black Secret Progressives,

We’re Back! The Black Secret has had an incredible Summer and Black History Month ( October ) this Autumn. We’ve been to Ghana on our first inspirational Cultural Tour, which turned out to be an unforgettable experience for all involved, in late July and early August. You can read more about our tour to Ghana and other forthcoming cultural tours further below.

And last month’s Black History Month can only be described as sublime! We were busy from start to finish, our very own Black History Man Robin Walker, was headlining many events throughout the UK including Auntie Jean’s Three King’s special at The Calabash Centre in South London, alongside follow ‘Regal Kings’ & Master Lecturers Tony Warner & Andrew Muhammad.

As usual for October, Robin was also invited to give many private lectures for various companies and institutions. He also appeared on several podcasts and YouTube channel’s including HAPI Talks, King’s Monologue’s ‘Down with King’ channel, ‘I Never Knew TV’ and ‘TrillBlack’ to name a few. You may have already seen some these stella appearances, but just in case you haven’t seen them all yet, you can find links to watch these amazing conversations at the end of this newsletter.

But that’s not all, our very own Danny Thompson continued his successful run of his African History Course in West London. Focusing on the History, Art, Literature & African Spirituality, Danny is bringing his popular 5 week course online for the months on November and December, again you can find the links and more details about Danny’s course towards the bottom of this email.

Sponsoring the Future, AUUDA & New Collaborations

Also, this October, The Black Secret for Black History Month, sponsored a series of events run by the talented duo of Nat Nye and Stella B, who are artists, poets and presenters extraordinaire. Their sponsored events included two ‘mindblowing’ poetry events held respectively at The Africa Centre and UAL London Cellege of Communication ( both in London ) inspired by the book ‘A River Called Time’, and a film showing of ‘Soundtrack to a Coup d’Etat’ ( a great film! ) in Holborn London at a venue called 'Hello Love', where I, Brother Jeorge, alongside Brother Hakim from The New Black Film Collective were the panellist leading the discussion on this poignant and thought provoking documentary concerning the events leading to the assassination of Patrice Lumumba, all set to Jazz music! I highly recommend it!

Nat Nye and Stella B’s ‘Poetic Temple’ events were fabulous affairs of live poetry readings, live music, live painting and film showings. All three events were well attended, with a few notables in attendance as well, including UK Member of Parliament Dawn Bulter at the Africa Centre event, who picked up the mic and dropped a poem of her own!  It’s been a pleasure for The Black Secret to sponsor and support the talented ‘Lyrical Alkhemist’ Nat Nye & Stella B the ‘Artist with the Imhotep Gene’ who are clearly stars in the making of the present and destined to be luminaries of the future.

But that’s not all, towards the end of October I was invited to be a panellist on a packed Black History Month special showing of Ryan Cooglar’s ‘Sinners’ at The Rum House in East London, for The New Black Film Collective. That was a lot of fun!

AUUDA ( Africa, USA & UK Diaspora Alliance )

Behind the scenes, we’ve also been quite active in forging new links and partnerships. Recently, The Black Secret has been working closely with several South African organisations, in regards to supporting arrangements for events based in the UK. This includes author, teacher and historian Nthebe Molope who has just published his latest book about King Mzilikazi kaMashobana, which is bringing new insights into his reign and the establishment of the Ndebele Nation. Providing a well needed spotlight and focus on this significant Ruler and historical figure. We have also been working with the Royal 20, the Cultural G20 and the TECSA Foundation.

In October, The Black Secret was invited by the above organisations to be involved with a new initiative which they have all come together to establish, called AUUDA ( Africa, USA & UK Diaspora Alliance ). AUUDA’s purpose is to service “as a strategic Pan African initiative that bridges the economic, cultural, and historical connections between Africa and its diaspora community in the United States and the United Kingdom.”

They intend to use Black History Month ( both versions in February & October ) as a launchpad and vehicle to promote economic action, diaspora investment and entrepreneurship in Africa. To help strengthen trade across the diaspora by actively encouraging engagement and involvement in key trade agreements such as the African Continental Free Trade Area ( AfCFTA ), AGOA, and UK-Africa trade policy frameworks. To celebrate African identity and heritage through global events. And to build partnerships with governments, corporates, and cultural institutions.

AUUDA held it’s first Inaugural Global Diaspora Alliance Summit 2025 on October 30th – 31st in which The Black Secret was proud to be a small part of. We are looking to 2026, which will see many exciting new developments currently been planned come to fruition. Watch this space!

Why The Black Secret Matters

In this short clip author Nthebe Molope talks about the significance of The Black Secret and our joint plans for working with AUUDA in 2026. As well as giving a sublime explaination on Black History's general suppression and the antiquity of African scripts and written languages.

Inspirational Ghana Tour

Our first Cultural tour to Ghana took place this Summer, and proved to be a special experience for all of us that journeyed there. We travelled in late July for eleven days with eleven tourists from America, the UK and Canada, celebrating PanaFest and Emancipation Day with our Ghanaian travel partners True Culture. We visited many beautiful locations throughout Ghana, including the capital - Accra, Kumasi - the heart land of the Ashanti, Cape Coast - with its golden beaches and Elmina Castle, Kakum National Park and its famous Canopy Walkway above the rainforest.

We stayed at some luxurious hotels along the way, the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra, with its great selection of cuisine, sublime view of the Atlantic ocean, elaborate swimming pools and access to Accra's golden beaches. Likewise in Cape Coast where we stayed in the equally luxurious Elmina Beach Resort. We had a wonderful team of guides who looked after our every needs. And all of us, the team, our tourists from America, Canada and the UK all got on really well, and we all became a little travelling family, which just made what was already a great experience, that much more special.

We visited historical and sacred sites including Manhyia Palace in the Ashanti region, Assin Manso Ancestral  River Site - the sacred river where enslaved Africans took their last bath. We also visited many museums along our journey, including the wonderful Bisa Aberwa Museum, which houses some powerful exhibits on Pan-African resistance and independence. We explored the holistic traditions of Ghana by visiting the Baobab School & Medicinal Garden and discovered insights into Ghana's indigenous healing traditions.

There were many highlights on our journey, but for me personally, one of the biggest highlights was our direct involved in PanaFest, the arts and cultural festival held in Cape Coast. Where I actually delivered a lecture at the University of Cape Coast as part of a program ( colloquium ) on Reparations. Discussing this important subject with an esteemed panel of lecturers lead by Professor Esi Sutherland, with the general public in attendance and children from Oguaa Senior High Technical School, who were present as well ( a school which one of our team, Nana Kofi, actually went to as a child himself! ). It was a real pleasure to engage with all of those active young minds from Oguaa High on this key subject.

We also took part in the late night Candle Walk, from the centre of town to Cape Coast Castle. We marched in reverence alongside hundreds of other participants from across the Diaspora, dressed all in white and paying our respects with every step we took, to the memory of all those who lost their liberty and were enslaved, and all those who lost their lives along the way, through the transatlantic enslavement process. The event at the Castle, the Reverential Night, was also a special, powerful affair and celebration of the strength of the African Spirit, led by Professor Esi Sutherland, Rabbi Kohain Halevi and Professor James Smalls.

There were so many highlights on the tour, it would simply take up too much space to mention them all here. I mean, Kumasi was just amazing ( I hadn't been there since I was a child ), we learnt about the origins of Kente cloth weaving and I gave a lecture on the history of the Ashanti Kingdom there. One other highlight I'll share before closing, was the naming ceremony that many of our number from the Diaspora took part in, receiving their Ghanaian Twi names. It was a real pleasure to see them receive not only names that related to the day of the week they were born on, but also an aditional 'inspired' name selected by the Queen Mother before meeting them, which matched all of thier individual characteristics and outlooks perfectly. It was a moment of pure magic.
