Greetings Black Secret Progressives,
As we enter the start of Spring proper, and the days become longer, we here at the Black Secret have a world of exciting news and developments to share with you. At the start of the year, I visited Luxor in Egypt, spending time and celebrating the New Year out there with the ‘Sahidi’ locals and elders of the community ( Up – Southerners / Brothers & Sisters of the true Nubians ), experiencing first hand the majestic glory of Karnak ( Ipet Isut / Chosen of Places ) and many other lesser known Temples further in the desert as well as numerous sacred sites, including the eye opening Noble tombs in Al Quran and the wonders of the Valley of the Kings in the Theban Hills ( will share more details on that in a following newsletter ). Out of that experience and other connections made at the start of this year has come an exciting new initiative, The Black Secret is moving into the Cultural Tourism space, and will be taking transformative tours to Egypt, Ghana and other countries. Our first tour will take place this Summer and is going to be very special indeed. We’re proud to announce we will be going to Ghana on the 24th of July for eleven days to celebrate PANAFEST and Emancipation Day, in what promises to be an unforgettable and life changing Cultural experience.
The Best in Cultural Tourism
We have teamed up with True Culture Tours and PANAFEST to bring you a unquie and exciting experience of connecting the Diaspora with the Mother Land and the Spirit of Africa as only The Black Secret and True Culture can delivery. Over eleven days and 10 nights, we will take you to many beautiful locations throughout Ghana, including the capital - Accra, Kumasi - the heart land of the Ashanti, Cape Coast – with its golden beaches and Elmina Castle, Kakum National Park and its famous Canopy Walkway above the rainforest. We will be visiting historical and sacred sites including Manhyia Palace in the Ashanti Kingdom, Assin Manso Ancestral River Site – the sacred river where enslaved Africans took their last bath. We will be visiting museums along our journey, including the wonderful Bisa Aberwa Museum, which houses some powerful exhibits on Pan-African resistance and independence. We will be taking in and exploring the holistic traditions of Ghana by visiting Baobab School & Medicinal Garden to discover Ghana’s indigenous healing traditions. There will be many beautiful ceremonies and celebrations to partake and re-connect to our roots in as well as a whole lot more.
Ohh… and I almost forgot to mention, there will be some truly inspiring and thought-provoking lectures connected to the various activities experienced throughout each day, and more broadly on Ghana and West Africa’s rich and glorious histories delivered in the evenings by The Black Secret delegation. We will have the best guides with us, we will be staying at the best hotels, and we have so many more surprises for those who decide to make the journey with us to Ghana this July and August.
