This course exists to answer many key questions parents have about their children's education:

• What should we teach Black children from the UK, the Caribbean, or the US, about Africa?
• How do we address the questions about Africa that high school students may have?
• What is the African heritage that we should teach that builds ancestral pride?

Many high-school students, particularly those of African descent in the UK, the Caribbean, and the United States, ask powerful and important questions:

• Where did my ancestors come from?
• What was Africa like before slavery and colonialism?
• Why don’t we learn more about African achievement in school?

Building Knowledge That Builds Confidence

Young people deserve more than fragmented facts or stereotypes. They deserve access to a serious, inspiring history that allows them to see Africa as a place of innovation, power, culture, and global influence long before European conquest.

Our New Module

What Students Should Know About Africa:
Exploring Early and Medieval Nigeria
in 12 History Lessons

This course introduces students aged 11–16 to the ancient and medieval history of West Africa, focusing on the Nigerian region—one of the most historically significant areas in the world and the ancestral homeland of millions of Black people across the diaspora. We cover 8000 years of heritage.

Students will explore a Glorious past marked by:

• Advanced iron smelting and metallurgy
• Sophisticated boat-building traditions
• World-class art stretching back over 3,000 years
• Powerful states, monarchs, trade networks, writing systems, architecture, and belief systems

This is not mythology or guesswork—it is evidence-based history, drawn from archaeology, oral traditions, manuscripts, and material culture.
