Did you know that the Moors were the African people who rescued Europe
from a state of barbarism in the middle-ages.

Between the 8th and 15th centuries they brought innovations in technology, education, architecture, agriculture, and social habits (i.e. personal and public hygiene). Through these innovations Spain & Portugal became the most powerful countries in Europe.

Who were they?

The original Moors were indigenous north Africans (racially Black types). The arrival of Germanic tribes and the resultant admixture created the Berbers, both black and white. This was added to further with the arrival of Arabs from Arabia who brought Slavic Europeans to the region. They shared a common culture rooted in their African origins.

There were four Muslim dynasties who ruled in Spain, of which two were African led, the Almoravid, Almohad dynasties.

What Innovations did they bring?

In agriculture they brought advanced irrigation techniques which allowed them to grow rice, sugar cane, dates, ginger, citrus fruits, cotton, and silk.

They operated gold, silver, tin, and lead mines.

Their innovations in the Maritime industry made it possible for the Spanish and Portuguese to sail across the Atlantic.

In science they introduced the Number system, the Compass for navigation and numerous medical advancements.
