Greetings Black Secret Progressives,

This Black History Month, on Valentine’s Day the 14h February, we’re sharing our love of Black History and African Heritage with everyone. We are passionate about constantly researching, compiling, updating and adding new and exciting information and findings to our already substantial programme, to deliver to the masses inspiring content and to bring you the very best Black History course available online. Why? Because we love Black History and we know just how transformative it can be when people begin to see and get to know and love the knowledge of who they are and what they can be, through understanding the real histories of what their ancestors have truly achieved and contributed to.

This is something that Black people by and large have been denied the positive benefits of. Our past has been deliberately mystified, misrepresented, obscured, artificially reduced or simply ignored. Much of this by design when feed to the masses through the channels of mainstream schools, academia, institutions and the access media apparatus. It is the reason why the Great Carter G Woodson invented Black History Week in 1926, to unshackle the psychology chains inhibiting the minds, thoughts and actions of Black people. By giving them knowledge of self through a understanding of history. In the US this grew in popularity, eventually becoming Black History Month in the 1970’s. It is now celebrated all over the world, with the UK and some other territories celebrating Black History Month in October because it is one of the longest months in the year! ( February was originally chosen to commemorate the birthdays of Fredrick Douglas and Abraham Lincoln ).

Carter G Woodson’s ultimate goal was for Black History to be valued, known and celebrated all year round, to become a part of people’s consciousness and thinking, because he knew and understood the transformative power it holds for building better minds and better futures.

n a similar spirit to Carter G Woodson, we here at The Black Secret love Black History, we are passionate about sharing the knowledge and bringing to you real Black History 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 52 weeks a year. You could subscribe to The Black Secret, and join us alongside a growing legion of students worldwide and literally learn something new about Black History and African Heritage every single day that will illuminate the mind, inspire the heart and motive your actions.

Check out our new & exciting Podcast: Pan Africanism Today

We have also launched a new podcast with Dr. Julius Garvey ( the son of Marcus Garvey ). This Podcast marks the first fruits of The Black Secret’s collaboration with Dr. Julius Garvey and his Institution. In a series of brilliant ongoing conversations between two great masters of knowledge and information, history and sociology, our very own Robin Walker ( The Black History ) and the venerable Dr Julius Garvey, discuss how Pan Africanist principles can be best applied in today’s modern world, and what we can learn from the lessons and achievements of our forebears in history.

If you missed this episode the first around, check it out. It’s starting to cause a bit of a stir on YouTube. Our factual claim to have introduced new paradigms in ‘teaching Black History’ seemed to have upset a minority of individuals in the comments section ‘claiming’ ( truthfully or otherwise ) to be ‘FBA’ ( Foundational Black American ), most interesting! But the majority of people just love the content and love the insights given, we hope you will too.

We just love history, especially empowering Black History.

In this episode Dr. Julius Garvey and Robin Walker explore how modern research into the sophistication of Pre-Colonial and Ancient African Civilisations, Cultures, Political structures, Science and Technology is radically changing the narrative and perception of Africa’s historic importance to Science, Culture and Modernity. While at the same time exposing the fallacy, concocted myth, and misperceptions of a 'Western origin' to all things advanced and progressive in modern society.

Click her or on the image to watch Episode 09: African Engagement in the Slave Trade

In this episode Dr. Julius Garvey and Robin Walker, trace and shed light on the important subject of what was Africa’s engagement and level of responsibility in the Slave Trade. By examining the diverse and opposing positions of Herny Louis Gates Jr, who largely blames Africans for their own fate. To Chancellor Williams who describes a more complex picture of European manipulation and a precarious scenario of completing Kingdoms vying for dominance and survival. The significant aspect of ‘resistance’ on the African continent, often ignored in such conversions is also explored and given its due place. For every single soul taken in chains, five would fight and give their lives in defiance and resistance, a fact that both Dr Julius and Robin believe should be remembered and reflected upon.

New episodes are published and made available every weekend on both of our YouTube channels.

"If you can control a man's thinking you do not have to worry about his action. When you determine what a man shall think you do not have to concern yourself about what he will do. If you make a man feel that he is inferior, you do not have to compel him to accept an inferior status, for he will seek it himself. If you make a man think that he is justly an outcast, you do not have to order him to the back door. He will go without being told; and if here is no back door, his very nature will demand one." - Carter G Woodson
